Internet Businesses - The First Advice You Must Listen To Before Any Other

I’m sure you have seen the online ads about automated marketing systems. You know, the kind of systems in which you just register with them and they will automatically make money for you? Just sign on with a couple of them and you will be laughing all the way to the bank.

In case you are really thinking of doing what I just said, don’t! I just put that in for fun and to illustrate that advice is cheap, and that anybody can give advice.

So, what advice can I provide that you really must listen to?

Find A Reliable Guide

Great advice. No point reinventing the wheel, right? Just find somebody who’s been there and done that and you’re good. My advice would be to take your time and find somebody who is friendly and patient enough to answer your stupid questions without rolling her eyes. :)
Make Sure You Have Great Content

Give your visitors what they want and they will come back for more. And since they have literally millions of other sites to choose from, anything other than great content just will not do.

Invest Your Time In Building A Mailing List

Many get-rich-quick programs have pointed to mailing lists as their vehicle of choice to Internet riches. While the techniques they recommend are usually questionable and ineffective, a targeted and responsive list is a great addition to your home based business.

So, after all is said and done,

Talk is cheap. The advice that you get out on the Internet is probably worth even less. It is like reading a book on kung fu and expecting to be a master after you complete the book.

What you have been told out there is basic theory. It has probably been effective for many people. But what you should be concerned with is whether it will be effective for you.

Take article marketing as an example. There are many different ways to carry out this technique, but the common thread would be that you have to write a lot of articles within a short period of time.

The ebook giving you this advice will tell you that anybody can do it but I beg to differ. I doubt that just anybody can write a few articles a day that is of sufficient quality that a web surfer will want to visit the writer’s site and buy something. In fact, that article might not even be accepted into the article directories.

Other advice will concentrate on other skill sets. Joint venturing would need some networking skills, or something to do with building and selling websites might need some graphics expertise, or some copywriting skills might be required for successful affiliate marketing.

You have to consider all advice in the light of your business, your skills, your interests and your passion. Just because somebody had made good money selling trinkets on eBay does not mean that you should or even can do it.

Do listen to the advice that you get. But always think not of how good the advice is, but of how it relates to you and your business. The success of your business depends on that.
