Learning Management System Delivers College Course Material Thru Online Learning
Colleges Nationwide have begun to tread new waters as they begin to implement Learning Management System into their curriculum. Specialty schools have created successful online learning programs for distant learners and have created curriculum to allow their students to earn their degree. Interactive courses allow students to collaborate with one another in group projects, labs, and various media endeavors, enabling the students to pursue a higher education with the same quality of curriculum as “in classroom” material.
Jim Miller, a current Internet Marketing student is experience distant learning first hand. He is currently attending Full Sail University, Orlando based, while residing on the West Coast. The convenience and flexibility of when you attend your class enables you to work your education around your career which helps to facilitate both endeavors.”
The Learning Management System has created a system that allows students to receive help around the clock with the 24/7 mentorship in which students can receive further tutoring with highly experienced trainers. Additional help in the curriculum is not the only thing that serves as a major benefit, but the chance for students to experience various different types of teaching methods to identify which method works best for them.
However, with every positive there is a negative. Depending on what the coursework entails, or how the Professor has laid out the curriculum, students may be required to participate in group projects, which can cause difficulties for the students. Having to take into account time differences, planning about work schedule, and picking up extra responsibility due the lack of responsibility of a lesser motivated student holding up their end of the project. Nevertheless, evaluations of the courses are on going to ensure the integrity of the course and the effectiveness.
When asked how the Learning Management System compares to “in classroom” curriculum and the quality of the learning, Jim Miller states, “The only difference that I have experienced is that you are not physically in the classroom. I feel the quality of the curriculum and the concepts I am being taught are held at the same standard and uphold the same quality at any other University attending an in-person course.”.
While some Colleges may not have made the transition into implementing a Learning Management System online learning program, signs of moving forward are evident. Some Professors are beginning to follow suit as they implement online class sessions, hosting class in a secured chat room on the school’s website. Components such as these show signs that people are beginning to acknowledge the ease and convenience that Learning Management System provides for delivering material to their students.
