You Have To Take Action

I started in Network Marketing in the early nineties and i didn’t know which end was up. I saw other people who were doing the business and I knew I could do it too. I was in the restaurant business for 50 years and there was one great similarity to Network Marketing and the hospitality business-they both dealt with people, but from different angles. In the restaurant business they came to you in Networking you went to them. You would start out by talking to people you knew like relatives, friends and work associates.

Do you remember Tony Robbins? Best known for his big teeth. He did infomercials in the early nineties (and still does). I watched him several times and decided to go for it. The set of cassettes were called “Personal Power.” He seemed like a nice fellow and came across as very sincere.

On the very first tape Tony talks about how 10% of the people who order his tapes never take them out the wrapper. They put them on a shelf somewhere and never listen to them. That was not me. I listen to them over and over. I didn’t get out of them what I had hoped for, but that was more my problem than the tapes. I guess I was looking for a magical formula.

What made a perfectly clear to me is if you don’t “Take Action” no product or production was going to happen. Big plans and goals are great, but without action they just sit there on the paper. Network Marketing is no different than any other business. There are of course unscrupulous people out there who will take advantage of you when you are at the height of your excitement. They tell you buy a kit and some product and watch the money roll in.

Most Network Marketing companies have systems and marketing tools that you can give to people. That being said if you don’t take action nothing is going to happen. What does happen though is people get overwhelmed (another thing I got out of those tapes don’t go into overwhelm) and think they have to do a lot everyday. Do one thing everyday and build on it. “Inch by inch it’s a cinch, mile by mile it’s a trial.” Take baby steps, but take them everyday. “Take Action.”
